WHERE DO YOU COME FROM?

I was born in Odessa, Ukraine.

WHERE IS HOME NOW? WHERE HAS HOME BEEN?

Now I live and work in Kiev. For a few years I lived in London whilst I did an MA Womenswear course at Central Saint Martins.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

I work on a number of projects at a time. Since my graduation my work style has transformed into a multidisciplinary approach when I can focus on several things at once, perhaps it’s my nature, I love the fact that I can’t get bored.
Sometimes I direct art shoots, simultaneously I’m working on a collaboration with Ukrainian street-wear brand ‘Syndicate’, we’ve produced two collections per year since 2013. I also work on a jewelry collection in collaboration with ‘Ellipsee’ – a jewelry brand founded by my friend, Sabina.

In the near future I’ll have two drawing exhibitions; to draw is probably my main passion.

WHAT DOES ART DO FOR YOU?

It fills me with energy, making me sometimes happy and sometimes angry, it’s a force that lives hand in hand with love.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY ROUTINE LOOK LIKE?  DO YOU HAVE ANY HABITS?

Well I live and work in one place and that makes me extremely lazy sometimes, but on the other hand my studio is a space where I meet people I collaborate with, we party, we work, we discuss things - it’s a mess in a good way.

I try to do yoga every day for 15 minutes, and I like to dance a little bit in the morning to get into a good mood.

WHAT HAS LOVE MADE YOU CAPABLE OF DOING?

A good question. Love makes me exceed my limits, it makes me brave, decisive, and vulnerable of course, the latter is inevitable in order to actually create. It’s a weird balance – you have to be open to the world to give a chance to any new emotion to touch your soul but fearless to fight for what you’re standing for.

CITE THREE FEMALE  ARTISTS  YOU ADMIRE.

Marlene Dumas, Louise Bourgeois and Viviane Sassen.

A BOOK?

Trent Parke, “Minutes To Midnight”

CITE SOME SONGS THAT WOULD BE ON YOUR FAVORITE PLAYLIST?

Willie West - I'm Still a Man (Lord Have Mercy)
Darondo – Didn’t I

Wendy Rene - After Laughter (Comes Tears)

Black Sabbath - Planet Caravan (2009 Remastered Version)

Cinema – Moreau goes to sea (instrumental version)

HOW DO YOU THINK SOCIAL MEDIA IS CHANGING THE ART WORLD? DO YOU THINK ITS BECOME A USEFUL TOOL FOR ARTISTS?

From my experience, definitely yes. I am a visual person, information simply touches me faster by looking at things. More so, by looking at what I post on Instagram I find connections between different work I’ve done, it helps me to analyse, find new ways of pushing what I do forward.

DEFINE WHAT HAPPINESS IS TO YOU.

Being at our summer house with my family, drinking champagne on the beach and looking at stars, meeting inspiring people, working with inspiring people, falling in love.

WHAT KIND OF THINGS WOULD EXIST IN YOUR IDEAL UTOPIA?

I think I’m h

appy living the life I have; however I wouldn’t mind not having hangovers sometimes and maybe trying all the food in the world without getting fat.

IS THERE AN ELEMENT TO YOUR WORK YOU ENJOY THE MOST? E.G. PLANNING, MAKING, PHOTOGRAPHING...

I enjoy when I come to something new by trying things, like a new technique when I draw or work with a new material that opens many ways to explore it - this is the best part, the excitement of a discovery.

WHAT PIECE ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

Well it’s hard to choose, it’s always about self-examination, at one moment you look at your own work and love something, the next moment you’ve grown up and your taste has evolved. I am over the moon when people I work with become inspired. Maybe the shoot for Jacquemus is something joyful, it was a special experience, we did this shoot at my family’s summer house in Odessa.

WHICH ART MOVEMENT DO YOU FEEL HAS INFLUENCED YOUR WOKR THE MOST, IF ANY?

I love Picasso, he did so many things that are so full of energy. When I feel that I need to get charged I simply look at his work. He was not a movement but a moving force.
